Friday funnies . . .

Yes, it’s Friday here in New Zealand, and there’s good news and there’s bad. Our Covid levels have dropped 1, so while Auckland is at Level 2 (operating with restrictions) the remainder of New Zealand is Level One, operating with caution, contact tracing etc. The new normal.

The bad news is there’s currently a tsunami warning out for the coastal areas of the middle to upper north Island. Large areas have been evacuated following a m. 8.1 earthquake in the Kermadec Islands. It’s been downgraded but is still in force for the east coast. The Kermadec quake followed a smaller cluster off the East Cape earlier in the morning.

Now, let’s have something to cheer us up…

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Stay safe, stay calm, read a book!

I love good quality chocolate. I love the ocean and love to be in, on or beside it. I read any and every where. I am a proud mum and Nana. I like wine, gin, Southern Comfort, a cold Heineken on a hot day. I am very versatile like that. I cross stitch, do jigsaws, garden, and work on a farm. I am an occasional scribbled. I have far too many books I want to read to ever find the time to die. 1. Yes, they are unnerving. We aren’t known as the ‘shaky isles’ for nothing. Everyone has been on tenterhooks as it’s only just over ten years since the Christchurch quakes. 😬

      2. For most of my life. I was heading for the USA to work in 2001, but with the advent of 9/11 my work visa was cancelled. I headed to Australia instead, ostensibly for a holiday thinking it would only be a matter of weeks before the visa was reissued, but it never happened and I stayed there 5 years. I came back in 2005 when my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and here I am still. πŸ€”πŸ˜‰πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

  1. When I saw this on the news last night, I was worried about you Sandy and immediately checked to see if you had posted anything. I hope you are safe and far enough away from the quakes.πŸ™πŸ™ I loved the botox comic, I spit my coffee out at that one. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚β˜•
