Watching what I’m reading . . .

Welcome from a wet and windy New Zealand.

It’s meant to clear up a little later this afternoon, but I am wondering if it will be fine enough for the BBQ we had planned for this evening. At the moment it’s not looking promising. Fingers crossed I guess.

I am about to start reading Suspicious Minds by David Mark.

I am currently listening to Olive Again (Olive Kitteridge #2) by Elizabeth Strout.

This week I am planning on also reading Limelight by Graham Hurley

Actress Enora Andressen is catching up with her ex-neighbour, Evelyn Warlock, who’s recently retired to the comely East Devon seaside town of Budleigh Salterton. The peace, the friendship of strangers and the town’s prestigious literary festival . . . Evelyn loves them all.

Until the September evening when her French neighbour, Christianne Beaucarne, disappears. Enora has met this woman. The two of them have bonded. But what Enora discovers over the anguished months to come will put sleepy Budleigh Salterton on the front page of every newspaper in the land . . .

I will also, hopefully, catch up on another back title from my Netgalley list. I will pick it at random.

Only two ARCs this week from Netgalley:

Single Mother by Samantha Hayes

And Life Sentences by Billy O’Callaghan

I seem to be going through one of those patches where everything I request goes onto my wishlist. Is anyone else having this problem? Mind you, it could be as a result of my geographical location.

I really can’t believe that we are in December in a couple of days time! Other than Luke’s gifts, I tend to pick up bits and pieces throughout the year, I have absolutely nothing organised. I hope that you are all better organized than I am!

I am looking forward to spending some time with Luke later this week. I am having him for the day Friday. We will have morning tea with his granny and grandma, who I haven’t caught up with since early this year, and then we have his daycare Christmas party in the afternoon.

Have a wonderful week everyone. Stay safe and read on!

  1. Love the photo you posted. I hope you were able to do the BBQ as planned. Just catching up with you and bookish blogs as we have been camping for our Thanksgiving holiday. Kept the social distance, read books and walked.

I like all the books you have posted here and hope to get ahold of those titles. I have a favor to ask. May I steal that lovely photo about being kind, the one at the end of your post? I would love to put it permanently on both my book and food blogs with a link to your site.

    1. Of course you may, Tina. I found it on Pinterest.
And yes, we did get our BBQ in, but actually ate inside.
Camping sounds like a great way to spend Thanksgiving. We don’t have Thanksgiving in New Zealand, but strangely enough, the Black Friday and cyber Monday sales have crept in over the past couple of years. I avoid sales…I don’t like crowds. โค๐Ÿ“š

  2. Wow, the sky is very scary looking! I hope you got to have your barbecue. We are grilling chicken legs tonight in Olive Garden Italian Dressing. Um, about your Netgalley approvals๐Ÿ˜ seriously, only two? I hope I can change that for you next week!๐Ÿ˜‚ How are you feeling my frirnd? Any better? Have a lovely week and please try and rest!๐Ÿ™‹๐ŸŒžโ˜•๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’œ

    1. We had a big storm just after I took that, but then it cleared somewhat. We BBQed but ate inside.
Thanks, you’ve just given me dinner for tomorrow night. We had a vegetarian coconut thai curry tonight.
I had a bit of a relapse last week and spent just one day back in hospital. So back on antibiotics and steroids. Mostly working from home. Just do an hour or so then have a sleep, then do a bit more. Some days I don’t do anything….โค๐Ÿ“š I will try to do better this week with Netgalley.

      1. I was going to ask the same question. Your body obviously needs the rest so go with it, Sandy. Glad you got your BBQ in, even if you had to eat inside. I hate shopping in crowds too! I do more online shopping these days. I haven’t read either of the Olive books, so will be watching to see what you think. Take care my friend. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿค—๐ŸŒž
